Context7 MCP setup¶
Context7 indexes up-to-date documentation for AI coding assistants. Acute registers the published AQPXLIB docs so assistants can retrieve accurate API references and examples instead of relying on outdated training data.

Prerequisites¶
- An AI assistant that supports Model Context Protocol (MCP) (for example Cursor).
- A Context7 account. Sign in through the setup flow below; Context7 supports OAuth and API keys. See the Context7 quickstart for details.
Recommended setup (Cursor)¶
The fastest way to enable Context7 in Cursor is the official setup command:
This authenticates with Context7, configures the MCP server in ~/.cursor/mcp.json, and installs a skill that can invoke Context7 automatically.
Restart Cursor after setup. For other options (project-level config, rules, Composer tips), see Using Context7 with Cursor.
Optional Cursor rule for AQPXLIB¶
To prefer AQPXLIB docs when you work on exerciser automation, add a rule under Cursor Settings → Rules and Commands:
When I ask about AQPXLIB, aqpxlib, Protocol Exerciser Python APIs, I2C, I3C, UART, or GPIO on Acute hardware, use Context7 MCP with library ID /acute-technology-inc/pxlib-docs.
Manual MCP configuration (Cursor)¶
If you configure MCP yourself, add one of the following to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (global) or .cursor/mcp.json (project). Do not commit API keys to git.
Create an API key in the Context7 dashboard, then use:
{
"mcpServers": {
"context7": {
"url": "https://mcp.context7.com/mcp",
"headers": {
"Context7-API-Key": "YOUR_CONTEXT7_API_KEY"
}
}
}
}
For local stdio mode and other clients, see Context7 MCP configuration.
Other AI assistants¶
Context7 supports Claude Code, OpenCode, and other MCP clients. Run npx ctx7 setup and select your agent, or follow the client list in the Context7 documentation index.
Verify access¶
- Restart your assistant after changing MCP settings.
- Ask for a specific AQPXLIB topic.
- Confirm the answer cites current documentation (for example GPIO, I2C, or I3C pages from pxlib-docs).
Documentation on Context7 is updated when Acute publishes new pxlib-docs releases; use Context7 when you need the latest API behavior in your assistant.
