QEI (Quadrature Encoder Interface)

QEI (Quadrature Encoder Interface) is a feedback signal (encoder) for small motor control. QEA/QEB provide motor speed (RPM); adding INDX also provides motor angle.

Wrong encoder line count or INDX edge setting yields incorrect RPM/angle. For channel-prefix differences, see Settings.

QEI Decode Settings
  • Channel: Assign QEA / QEB / INDX channels.
  • Encoder lines: Encoder line count. Default: 400.
  • INDX: Use the INDX signal. Field enabled (Enable) when checked; INDX channel and rising-edge option are enabled with this option. Default: checked.
  • 0 degree from rising edge of index pulse: Treat the INDX rising edge as 0°. Field enabled (Enable) when checked (requires INDX). Default: cleared (falling edge is 0°).
  • Draw curve: Draw angle/speed curves. Field enabled (Enable) when checked. Default: cleared.
